develop at least one training exercise or drill to improve in each of the six skill-related areas: agility, balance, coordination, power, reaction time and speed. Remember that one of the characteristics of a good Personal Trainer is to understand their clients and their clients’ needs.
Agility: set a course of slalom poles within each pole no further than half a metre apart, have the client to build up speed running the course weaving through the poles.
Balance: single foot stand on wobble board – basic proprioception exercise also improves co-ordination
Power: Dynamic squats 50% 1 rm 10 sets of 3 reps apply same force to lift as would be applied to a full weight lift – similar to a weighted burpee, develops explosive power
Reaction Time: stand 5-10 yards away from client, have the client run or dribble a ball directly toward you when the client gets close indicate which side of you they are to to go around, the closer they are before the signal the harder the exercise and lower time they have to react.
Speed: sled runs or bounding
