Lost Weight Fast

Lose Weight Fast By Watching Your Insulin   by David Cox

The question of how to lose weight fast is being asked by more and more people worldwide. At the last count it is thought that, on average, in a western developed economy such as the United States or United Kingdom the percentage of overweight adults is now just over half and the percentage of adults who are actually obese (meaning that they have a Body Mass Index in excess of 35) is approaching one quarter. Of course, these are only average figures and given the size of the pool the variations around the average in each country will be significant. It does, however, make the point that the obesity trend is now of epidemic proportions. Is it scare-mongering to call it an epidemic? Shouldn’t that term be applied only to diseases that spread throughout the world at a rapid rate threatening the health of global population?

You see my point? This is precisely why the trends on average body weight can only be regarded as an epidemic. With excess body weight being blamed for the dramatic increases we are seeing in the levels of heart disease, joint problems and even cancer, the strain this trend is putting on national health care budgets is immense. It can only called an epidemic.

What still puzzles many is why, when we have such a firm understanding of what causes obesity, is the problem still growing year on year? Surely it’s not difficult for people to understand the calories in and calories out debate and if the overweight population are really suffering not only the associated health problems of being over weight but the damaging social ostracism that comes along with it then why don’t they do something about it? The convenient answer we have all grown comfortable with is that the overweight are somehow lazier than the rest of us or lack our levels of motivation and self-esteem. We like to judge overweight people, even if we never admit it.

But something is wrong with this picture. Is it really the case that the world is populated with so many unmotivated people who don’t care about their health? Think about the degree of investment national governments are making into publicising the correct approach to losing weight fast. Think about the billion dollar Weight Loss industry profiteering from the hopes of the hundreds of millions of people worldwide looking to lose weight. Are all these efforts really failing to such a degree simply because of the ‘attitude’ of the overweight?

The fact remains that the mass of overweight people are being treated in the wrong way and the information designed to help them, however well-intentioned, is just factually incorrect.
Prior to the second world war, considerable research had been conducted into the same question of how to lose weight fast. Unfortunately, much of this work was lost during the war and, even more tragically, so too were many of the young scientists. Their work was revived in the 1950’s and if you have the aptitude to wade through the many hundreds of pages of research you will find that the whole energy in and energy out argument for understanding weight loss has never stood up to much scrutiny.

What the considerable scientific research does reveal however is an unequivocal conclusion that, just like the human growth hormone controls how tall we may grow so too does insulin control how fat we become. Insulin levels in the blood are largely determined by how much sugar from refined carbohydrates we eat. Eat less carbohydrates and you will produce less insulin. If you produce less insulin you will shed fat cells. There is nothing safe about fast weight loss so don’t expect or desire overnight results but with this approach there is no known scientific reason why you would be able to hang on to your fat cells, even if you wanted to!
